Nigeria Immigration launches 24/7 surveillance system to boost border security

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has strengthened its border security efforts with the launch of a 24-hour real-time surveillance system. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this advancement at the induction of 123 newly trained officers at the NIS Command and Control Centre.

The new system enables continuous monitoring of Nigeria’s land, maritime, and air borders, enhancing border security, governance, and control.

“Our nation’s capabilities in border management have significantly improved,” Tunji-Ojo stated, adding that Nigeria now joins an elite group of countries equipped for 24/7 real-time surveillance.

He praised the newly inducted officers for their readiness, following intensive training with advanced technology.

“Today, we make a significant step forward by welcoming officers who have proven their competence through rigorous training,” he said.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to leverage innovative technologies for national security improvements, Tunji-Ojo noted, underscoring the administration’s commitment to modernizing security infrastructure across the country.
