NiDCOM receives 10 trafficking victims repatriated from Ghana

The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has welcomed nine young Nigerian women and a five-year-old boy who were rescued from a human trafficking network in Ghana.

The group, comprising individuals aged between 16 and 30, was received by the NiDCOM boss on Friday, marking a significant step in ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and support victims.

According to official details, the rescued individuals hail from various states: four are from Cross River and another four from Benue, while Imo and Oyo states account for one victim each.

Following their arrival, the returnees were handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for proper documentation and further assistance, including profiling and rehabilitation.

Dr. Dabiri-Erewa reiterated the federal government’s commitment to curbing human trafficking and ensuring Nigerians in distress abroad are given the necessary support to reintegrate into society.
