The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Nigerians who recently achieved electoral success in various countries around the world.
In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, the Commission’s Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised the outstanding achievements of four Nigerians who reached significant political milestones.
The victorious individuals include Dr. Oye Owolewa, re-elected as the Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia under the Democratic Party; Chiaka Barry, elected to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Legislative Assembly for the Ginninderra District under the Liberal Party; Segun Adeyina, re-elected as State Representative for District 110, Georgia, USA; and Yemi Mobolade, who made history as the first Black Mayor of Colorado Springs, USA.
Dabiri-Erewa commended their accomplishments, highlighting their vital roles in shaping the political futures of their respective communities and recognizing them as representatives of Nigerian excellence on the global stage.
“Your successes reflect the resilience, dedication, and brilliance of Nigerians worldwide. We are incredibly proud of your victories and encourage you to continue embodying the tenacious spirit as you serve in your new roles,” Dabiri-Erewa remarked.
She offered prayers for their continued safety, strength, and wisdom as they assume their new responsibilities, urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to service and leadership.
Dr. Oye Owolewa, a pharmacist, thanked his supporters for their trust in re-electing him as the Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia. Chiaka Barry, with her extensive background in law, legislative drafting, and community service, has earned accolades for her dedication to public service.
Segun Adeyina brings over 25 years of expertise in IT program and project management, having worked with Fortune 500 companies, including General Motors and Hewlett Packard/Cap Gemini.
Yemi Mobolade’s election as Colorado Springs’ 42nd Mayor was a groundbreaking achievement, making him the first Black person to ever hold the position in the city.
