Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Smart Island University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in recognition of her exceptional humanitarian work and leadership in diaspora development.
The award was presented to her by Dr. Mohammed Dhaidan Al-Mutairi, the Registrar of the university, who praised Dabiri-Erewa’s tireless commitment to humanitarian causes and her groundbreaking contributions to diaspora affairs.
Dr. Al-Mutairi also highlighted that nearly 90 Nigerian students are currently enrolled at the university across various academic programs.
He expressed the university’s intent to strengthen its ties with Nigeria, including plans to establish a campus in the country.
In her acceptance speech, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa expressed her gratitude to the university for the honor and thanked the Association of Nigerians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their support in uniting Nigerians in the region and promoting Nigeria’s positive image.
A formal ceremony to officially confer the honorary doctorate will be scheduled later this year.
