The Al-Qahira Police Department in Sabha, Libya, has arrested two Nigerian nationals accused of kidnapping an African girl and attempting to extort money from her.
According to authorities, the victim was rescued during a police operation that also led to the arrest of the suspects.
Migrant Rescue Watch, a humanitarian organization, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. It revealed that the suspects have been handed over to the public prosecution for further legal action.
The statement reads: “Al-Qahira Police Dept. (Sabha) arrested two undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for the kidnapping of an African girl and attempted extortion.
“Police successfully freed the victim during the operation and apprehended the perpetrators. Both accused were referred to public prosecution for legal action.”
