Leverkusen reduces Nigerian striker, Boniface’s asking price to €50m

Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly lowered its asking price for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface to €50 million ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to German outlet Sport Bild, the Bundesliga champions, who were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, are keen on selling Boniface and have reduced their initial valuation.

In January, the forward was on the verge of joining Saudi club Al-Nassr for €70 million, but the deal collapsed as the club opted to sign Jhon Duran instead.

Since then, Boniface has struggled for regular playing time, finding himself mostly on the bench. Despite scoring twice shortly after the failed transfer, his form has dipped, and his attitude on the pitch has reportedly raised concerns at Leverkusen.

A notable example was his heated exchange with Emiliano Buendia during the 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Looking ahead to next season, Leverkusen is unlikely to retain both Boniface and Patrik Schick, with indications suggesting the Nigerian will be the one to leave.

The club aims to sell one key player each summer, and Boniface appears to be the chosen departure.
