Jamaica to recruit 400 Nigerian professionals

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has announced that Jamaica is seeking to hire 400 Nigerian professionals, offering full salary packages to address workforce shortages in the country.

NTAC Director-General, Yusuf Yakub, revealed this on Tuesday in Abuja during the deployment ceremony of 16 volunteers to the Republic of Benin and Rwanda.

He explained that the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to support African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) nations while fostering stronger diplomatic and cultural ties.

Yakub emphasized that the recruitment drive is also in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritizes democracy, development, demographic advantage, and diaspora engagement.

“We ensure that the president’s mandate is implemented whenever countries request Nigeria’s assistance in filling professional and educational gaps,” he said.

“Going forward, NTAC will not only deploy volunteers for humanitarian purposes but also facilitate employment opportunities for Nigerian professionals in countries willing to compensate them in a structured and dignified manner.”

He further noted that NTAC is transitioning into a revenue-generating agency, marking a significant milestone in its operations.

Jafaru Usman, an engineer from the University of Maiduguri and leader of the newly deployed volunteer group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, commending NTAC for providing a platform to contribute their expertise to other nations.

Since its establishment in 1987, NTAC has deployed over 10,000 volunteers to ACP nations and international institutions, fulfilling its mandate of technical assistance and cooperation.
