Iheanacho scores first Middlesbrough goal in victory over Oxford United

Kelechi Iheanacho opened his goal account for Middlesbrough, playing a key role in their 2-1 win over Oxford United at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

Oxford United took the lead just before halftime through Michal Helik, but Middlesbrough responded swiftly after the break.

Three minutes into the second half, Iheanacho capitalized on a well-timed assist from Samuel Iling-Junior to level the score.

The Nigerian forward, making his eighth league appearance under manager Michael Carrick, showcased his growing impact with the crucial equalizer.

Middlesbrough continued to press for a winner, and their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when Neto Borges fired home the decisive goal, again assisted by Iling-Junior.

The win propelled Middlesbrough to seventh place in the league with 57 points from 39 games, strengthening their playoff hopes. Meanwhile, Oxford United remains in 19th place with 42 points, leaving them in danger of relegation.
