The 11th edition of the German-Nigerian Business Forum, organized by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria in collaboration with the German-African Business Association, successfully wrapped up on Monday in Lagos.
With the theme “Building Effective Partnerships for Successful Business Development,” the forum aimed to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Germany and Nigeria while exploring new business opportunities, particularly in renewable energy, agribusiness, construction, and manufacturing.
Bastian Lidzba, a representative from the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships to enhance the economic relationship between the two nations. He noted that Nigeria, with its largest economy and significant investment potential, has become an attractive market for German companies.
Lidzba emphasized the need for greater collaboration and partnerships to further develop the economic ties between Germany and Nigeria.
In his keynote address, Igbuan Okaiasabor, President of the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce, called for partnerships in key sectors such as manufacturing, construction, energy, and information technology. He encouraged participants to actively seek new collaborative opportunities and to remain open to learning from one another with a long-term vision.
“I urge everyone here to be proactive in pursuing new opportunities for collaboration and to maintain an openness to learning from each other,” Okaiasabor stated.
Weert Boerner, Consul General of the German Consulate, described the forum as one of the most significant annual business gatherings. “This German-Nigeria Business Forum is a key event where numerous companies, government representatives, and associations meet to enhance Nigerian-German business relations. This forum occurs annually, alternating between Nigeria and Germany, aiming to engage more companies from both sides in bilateral business relations while addressing critical sectors like agriculture, construction, energy, and the environment,” Boerner explained.
At the conclusion of the forum, Marilyn Rupo, Director General of the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce, expressed optimism about the forum’s role in creating jobs and fostering business connections between the two nations.
