A 23-year-old Nigerian woman, Okezie Precious Chioma, has urgently appealed to the Nigerian government for help, saying she is being held captive in Iraq.
Chioma traveled to Iraq in 2023 with hopes of finding better opportunities, but upon arrival, her situation took a tragic turn.
According to a relative who with Allnaijadiaspora, Chioma has been facing extreme hardships since her arrival in the country.
The relative said, Chioma expressed her distress saying “Before I left Nigeria for Iraq in 2023, my intention was to work and provide for my basic needs.”
“However, everything has been the opposite since I arrived. I’ve suffered terribly and continue to endure hardship. It’s even hard for me to feed myself.”
Chioma further revealed that her phone was taken from her and destroyed, leaving her unable to reach out for help.
“I barely get food once every three days, and my health is deteriorating by the minute,” she added.
In her desperate plea, Chioma called on the Nigerian government to intervene, stating, “Please, I need the government’s help. I am silently dying here, and my condition is worsening every day.
