The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has praised the Caring Habitat hospital, established by a Nigerian expatriate, as a remarkable initiative that deserves recognition and support. She made these remarks during the official opening of the facility, which is a state-of-the-art skilled nursing and rehabilitation center featuring 40 rooms spread across three accessible floors.
Hon. Abike expressed her admiration for Dr. Abdul Fatai Olaolu Odemuyiwa, the Managing Director of Caring Habitat, highlighting his commitment and vision in bringing this project to life. She acknowledged Dr. Odemuyiwa’s years of experience abroad, which he has now channeled into improving healthcare in Nigeria.
During her speech, Hon. Abike encouraged other Nigerians in the diaspora to follow Dr. Odemuyiwa’s example, emphasizing that it is only through the efforts of its citizens that the country can address its challenges and achieve development.
In response, Dr. Odemuyiwa thanked the attendees for their support and urged fellow diaspora Nigerians to consider returning home to invest in their country. He expressed pride in contributing to Nigeria’s healthcare system through this pioneering facility.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the Ogun State Government; Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser on Health to the Lagos State Governor; and Dr. Tomi Coker, Ogun State Commissioner for Health. They all commended Dr. Odemuyiwa for this groundbreaking project, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Other distinguished guests included Dr. Yemi Onabowale, MD of Reddington Hospital, Lagos; Mr. Yemi Adeola, Chairman of Sterling Bank; and Dr. Kweku Tandor.
Caring Habitat is designed as a comprehensive skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, featuring ensuite rooms that are spacious enough to accommodate visiting family members. It offers specialized physical therapy for patients with chronic diseases, neurological conditions, degenerative disorders, orthopedic issues, and various ancillary services.
