Chelsea set to offload Nigerian Midfielder, Chukwuemeka in Jan. amid Ipswich town interest

Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in the upcoming January transfer window, with Premier League side Ipswich Town showing interest, according to TEAMtalk.

Chukwuemeka, who came through the Aston Villa academy, has struggled to secure a spot in Chelsea’s starting XI this season. He has made only three appearances across all competitions, none of which were in the Premier League, leaving him surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are keen to bolster their defense with a new central defender and view Chukwuemeka’s sale as a means to help finance a potential signing. Initially valued at £40 million in the summer, the Blues are now willing to consider lower offers to facilitate a quicker transfer, which could benefit Ipswich Town in their pursuit.

Ipswich Town, managed by Kieran McKenna, recently secured their first win of the season against Tottenham Hotspur. However, they remain in a precarious position, sitting 17th in the league standings with just eight points—one point above the relegation zone. The addition of Chukwuemeka could bring much-needed quality to their squad as they aim to avoid relegation.

Ipswich previously signed Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea during the summer transfer window and may leverage this existing relationship to negotiate a deal for Chukwuemeka. The midfielder is also attracting interest from Serie A giants AC Milan, adding further competition for his signature.
