Barcelona enter race to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly joined the competition to sign Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen as they search for a long-term successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona are hopeful that Napoli will entertain offers below Osimhen’s €75 million release clause next summer.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international is among the club’s top attacking targets for the 2025/26 season.

Despite scoring 35 goals this season, Lewandowski, now 36, is nearing the final stages of his career, prompting Barcelona to explore future striking options.

Manager Hansi Flick is said to be keen on Osimhen, who is currently impressing on loan at Galatasaray.

Barcelona’s Transfer Targets

Osimhen is not the only forward on Barcelona’s radar. The club is also keeping tabs on Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Sporting CP’s Victor Gyökeres, Lille’s Jonathan David, and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic as alternative options.

Napoli’s Stance on Osimhen’s Future

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli includes a €75 million release clause and is set to run until June 2026, with an option for an extension. Napoli are eager to avoid losing their star forward on a free transfer and may consider negotiating a deal next summer.

The Nigerian striker has been in superb form in the Turkish Super Lig, netting 26 goals and providing five assists in 30 appearances for Galatasaray.

His performances have also reignited interest from English Premier League clubs, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
