Anger as Nigerians seek arrest of Canada-based woman inciting violence

Concerned Nigerians have taken to the Internet to demand the arrest of a Canada-based Nigerian woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, and her accomplices, after they were seen inciting violence against fellow Nigerians during a social media engagement.

On Wednesday, PUNCH Metro observed widespread shock and outrage across social media platforms after a viral TikTok video surfaced, showing Sunnberger and others urging the poisoning of Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), addressed the issue on her X.com account. She identified Sunnberger and confirmed that various Nigerian groups had reported the matter to Canadian authorities.

Dabiri-Erewa posted, “This is the picture of the lady behind the voice, Amaka Patience Sunnberger. She has deleted her TikTok account, and a group of Nigerians in Canada are officially reporting her to the relevant authorities. Thanks to

An X.com user, @DAMIADENUGA, who shared the video on his account Wednesday, urged Nigerians in Canada to stay safe and take precautionary measures.

“A very disturbing video of some Nigerians on TikTok planning the death of other Nigerians in Canada. This post is for awareness purposes only. Be careful out there, folks,” he wrote.

“Please, everyone on that TikTok live space with her are all accomplices; they all must be traced!!! Every one of them.” @AmodaOgunlere added.

Corroborating the call for the participants’ arrest, @AbiolaKujore wrote, “The sad part is they all supported her and cheered her on; I was shocked.”

“They share the same sentiment because I wonder why anyone would want to give her a listening ear by being part of that demonic space,” @adedirant noted.

Assuring other Nigerians that the authorities had begun a probe into the distasteful video, @Lekanarsenal said, “Most of them do delete their TikTok account, but the hand will touch them one after the other. Some of them live in Nigeria, and we repost them. We are going to track every account that leads to them.”

“Pls let’s all say no to all Bigotry!! Let’s not pick and choose! Or we become hypocrites! Let’s trace all of them. Both those in South Africa inciting hate and bigotry! Let’s all of us say no to all bigots. Be Yoruba, Igbo, or any other tribe! Enough Naija!” @nassy22_tactics urged.

“@Olalekakanakogun called on leaders from all sides to encourage their followers to refrain from fanning animosity towards fellow Nigerians, saying, “It is high time that our brothers and sisters changed strategy and learnt tolerance and sportsmanship. There must be an end to these nauseating episodes.”

Meanwhile, other Nigerians, while calling for the woman’s arrest, urged the authorities to respond equally when similar public remarks are made by other Nigerians.

“Let’s come to equity with clean hands. She is a mess and deserves whatever measure is brought upon her by the law, but let’s also be active in condemning the same from our own when they err. Some portions of both tribes have been nothing short of mischievous
