Nigerians continue to push boundaries and make global history, and Alma Asinobi is the latest to take on an extraordinary challenge.
The Nigerian travel content creator, who has already explored over 30 countries across five continents, is now aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the “Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents.”
On March 15, Alma will embark on her record-breaking journey, starting from Antarctica and making her way across all seven continents in record time.
This ambitious feat is one of two world records she hopes to achieve this month.
Explaining her motivation, Alma highlighted the challenges of traveling with a Nigerian passport and the inequalities in global mobility.
“I’m taking on this challenge with a Nigerian passport to raise awareness about passport privilege—or, in our case, the lack of it. I had to apply for over 10 visas, faced rejections twice, and was denied entry five times. Once I recover from this ordeal, I’ll share more on why we cannot remain silent about the second-class treatment many passport holders face when it comes to travel and visa restrictions,” she said.
Alma further emphasized that her journey is about more than just breaking records—it’s about proving that travel is possible despite limitations and drawing attention to the struggles of people with low-mobility passports, particularly Africans.
“I’m pushing the limits of one of the world’s lowest-ranking passports to show what’s possible and inspire others to explore the world. At the same time, I want to shine a spotlight on an issue that affects millions, especially Africans at home and in the diaspora,” she added.
The current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all seven continents was set by Indian travelers Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Ali Irani in December 2022. They completed the journey in 3 days, 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 4 seconds. Alma hopes to beat this time and make history.
