Nigerian govt targets diaspora with 2025 motherland initiative

The Federal Government has launched the 2025 Motherland Initiative, inviting Nigerians in the diaspora to explore investment opportunities and witness the country’s ongoing transformation.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, highlighted that the initiative will include the Motherland 2025 Festival Ambassador Awards, which will recognize outstanding diaspora members making significant contributions in various fields.

Musawa emphasized that the initiative aims to position Nigeria as a top global destination, leveraging tourism to drive economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and national pride.

She described the project as more than just a festival, aligning it with the “Destination 2030: Nigeria Everywhere” soft power initiative, which reaffirms Nigeria’s role as the center of global Black and African culture, commerce, and community.

The minister assured that the initiative would foster sustained engagement, strengthening connections between the diaspora and their homeland, attracting investors, and showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural experiences to the world.
