Adebayo Temitope Adeleke, widely known as Adebayo Adeleke, is a visionary leader whose journey spans military service, business strategy, and social entrepreneurship.
A retired U.S. Army Major, he has successfully transitioned from a distinguished two-decade military career to becoming a global expert in supply chain management, leadership, and governance. Beyond his corporate achievements, Adeleke is deeply committed to empowering communities, advocating for immigrants, and promoting better leadership worldwide.
Early Life and Journey to the Military
Born in Ilesha, Nigeria, and raised in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Adeleke’s formative years were shaped by both Nigerian and American influences. He initially attended the Adventist Seminary of West Africa—now Babcock University—before his journey took a dramatic turn.
His father, who had worked in the U.S. before returning to Nigeria to rebuild a hospital in Ile-Ife, eventually decided to move the family back to America in the early 1990s due to economic challenges. This marked Adeleke’s first visit to the U.S. However, honoring his father’s wishes, he later returned to Nigeria to complete his education, a goal he eventually achieved while serving in the U.S. military.
Adeleke’s decision to join the military was inspired by an unexpected moment—watching a baseball game. During a commercial break, an advertisement featuring the U.S. Army’s slogan “Be all you can be” resonated deeply with him. Inspired, he enlisted, embarking on a transformative journey that exposed him to new cultures, experiences, and a strong sense of purpose.
Rising Through the Ranks
Adeleke’s military career was marked by discipline, resilience, and a drive to excel. In 2005, while stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he was still a Sergeant when he began contemplating a path to becoming an officer. Each time he passed through the gates of Kadena Air Force Base and saw officers being saluted, his long-held ambition to advance in rank grew stronger.
By then, he had already completed most of the requirements needed for promotion. Later that same year, after seven years of service, he achieved his goal—receiving his commission as an officer. From that moment, his career took on a new trajectory, opening doors to leadership roles and global assignments.
A Decorated Military Career and Beyond
Throughout his 20-year military career, Adeleke gained extensive experience, working in diverse environments across the world. His service was marked by both triumphs and challenges, each shaping his leadership philosophy.
In 2018, after two decades of dedicated service, he retired from the military to explore new opportunities in business consulting, supply chain management, and leadership development. With a wealth of experience behind him, Adeleke continues to inspire others, using his expertise to drive impactful change in various sectors.
His journey—from a young boy in Nigeria to a decorated U.S. Army Major and now a global thought leader—reflects resilience, ambition, and a commitment to excellence.
