Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman delivered an outstanding performance off the bench, scoring his fourth Champions League goal and providing an assist as Atalanta triumphed 5-0 over Sturm Graz at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Lookman entered the match at the start of the second half, replacing Atalanta’s top scorer Mateo Retegui.
He quickly made his presence felt, heading in a perfectly delivered cross to extend Atalanta’s lead to 4-0 before setting up the fifth goal for his team.
The reigning African Player of the Year continued his fine form in Europe’s top competition, now boasting four goals and one assist in six Champions League appearances.
With 14 points from seven matches, Atalanta have secured a spot in the knockout stages and are on track to qualify directly for the round of 16.
Atalanta faces a challenging final group-stage match against Barcelona, but only a draw is needed to advance to the next phase.
Domestically, Lookman has been equally impressive, contributing 10 goals and five assists in 18 Serie A matches, helping Atalanta rise to third in the league standings.
Across all competitions this season, he has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 26 appearances, cementing his role as a key figure in the team’s ambitions both in Italy and Europe.
