Seventeen-year-old Ugo Ugochukwu has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first Nigerian-American to clinch victory at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in over four decades.
He further solidified his place in motorsport by also winning the 2024 FIA Formula Regional (FR) World Cup.
The young racing star, son of Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba and Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi, delivered a flawless performance while racing for R-ace GP. Ugo led the race from start to finish, outperforming Olivier Goethe of MP Motorsport and Noel León of KCMG IXO by Pinnacle Motorsport.
In a heartfelt statement after his win, Ugo expressed his excitement and gratitude:
“I can’t describe the feeling — of course, I’m super happy. It was a tricky race, and I pushed the whole way, but I was confident in our pace. Ever since Q2, we’ve been really quick, and after winning the Quali race, there was still one more thing to do: win the main race. We managed to get it done. I can’t thank the R-ace GP team enough — we had an incredible weekend, and I’m super happy to finally get the job done.”
Hailed as the “next Lewis Hamilton,” Ugo Ugochukwu is already paving his own path in the world of motorsport, making significant strides and breaking barriers along the way.
