Nigerian creatives abroad are Africa’s top Ambassadors, says Cameraboss

The global spotlight is increasingly on creativity as a driver of recognition and new opportunities.

Nigerian and African creatives, despite facing technological limitations compared to their Western peers, continue to make remarkable strides and are now celebrated as some of the continent’s finest ambassadors.

John Durojaye, known as Cameraboss, a distinguished first-class graduate from Oduduwa University, shared insights into his journey of exploring storytelling through photography and videography. He emphasized the importance of capturing moments, noting that “photos serve as timeless memories, preserving stories that can be retold for generations.”

As the Creative Director of Cameraboss Multimedia, operating in both Nigeria and the UK, Durojaye highlighted the dedication of Nigerian creatives. “It’s important to recognize the efforts of these artists who elevate our industry,” he remarked. “Even without the same technological advantages as their Western counterparts, they’re making significant progress, proving that we’re not lagging behind in this creative race.”

Starting his career in Ekiti State, Cameraboss honed his skills in visual storytelling before moving to Lagos, Nigeria’s vibrant creative hub. This shift allowed him to thrive in a competitive environment and diversify his portfolio across various genres of photography.

Reflecting on his recent recognition, he said, “Winning Photographer of the Year at The Creative Industry Awards 2024 in the UK is a milestone in my career. It serves as a reminder to younger creatives: ‘If you can imagine it, you can achieve it.’”

Cameraboss offers a wide range of multimedia services, including photography, videography, and content creation. His unique blend of creativity and technical expertise has made him a preferred choice for both personal and commercial projects, helping clients bring their visions to life.

Durojaye’s journey from Ekiti to Lagos and now to international recognition is a testament to his passion, dedication, and innovation. As a leading figure in the creative industry, he continues to set new standards, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and inspiring the next generation of African talent.
