Deniece Laurent-Mantey, Executive Director of the U.S. Presidential Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement (PAC-ADE), affirmed the council’s mission to expand diaspora involvement in Nigeria’s development beyond individual remittances.
By fostering opportunities for Nigerians in the U.S. to partner with local entrepreneurs, support SMEs, and invest in larger development projects, PAC-ADE aims to drive stability and economic growth in Nigeria.
Laurent-Mantey shared these insights during her plenary presentation at the 7th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in Abuja. She emphasized that PAC-ADE’s efforts align with its mission to bridge communities, create pathways for investment, and amplify the influence of the African diaspora.
Expressing her gratitude for the support of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and its leadership under Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Laurent-Mantey reiterated PAC-ADE’s commitment to establishing strong platforms and partnerships that strengthen the diaspora’s impact, saying, “PAC-ADE is laying the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient Nigeria.”

Dabiri-Erewa highlighted the need for collective action within the diaspora, aligning closely with PAC-ADE’s mission. She shared her vision for a Diaspora Investment Fund to encourage pooled investments, envisioning the potential impact: “Imagine 1,000 diaspora members contributing $100 each and investing in Nigeria; the impact could be transformative.”
She voiced optimism for future partnerships, saying, “We appreciate the initiatives of the American African Diaspora Council under this administration and look forward to working together.”
Dabiri-Erewa reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to leveraging diaspora resources, skills, and aspirations for Nigeria’s development. She emphasized the value of working together to build economic resilience and create job opportunities across Nigeria, adding, “We want to work with you and build this great country together.”
Additionally, Dabiri-Erewa acknowledged contributions from prominent diaspora figures like Christopher Brooks, recognizing his dedication to creating investment opportunities that empower small businesses and drive economic progress in Nigeria.
