Biden thanks Tinubu for over release of Binance Executive, commits to strengthening U.S.-Nigeria partnership

U.S. President Joe Biden has expressed appreciation to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for the collaboration between both countries that led to the release of Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, detained in Nigeria over money laundering allegations.

Biden also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing strategic ties with Nigeria, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar.

Briefing State House correspondents, Tuggar revealed that Biden conveyed his gratitude in a phone call to Tinubu around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

During the call, Tinubu thanked the United States for ongoing collaborations across multiple areas, particularly in intelligence sharing, technological support, and security training focused on African, and especially West African, stability.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Africa partnership, noting Africa’s crucial role in the global future.

Both leaders also discussed the inclusion of African nations in the United Nations Security Council.

Biden reiterated the U.S. commitment to supporting two permanent African seats, emphasizing Nigeria’s eligibility due to its influence and leadership on the continent.
