U.S. President Joe Biden has awarded Nigeria’s Kingsley Okonkwo and his wife, Mildred, the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Service Award for their exceptional work in restoring broken relationships and promoting family values across continents.
The Presidential Lifetime Service Award is one of the highest honors in the United States, recognizing individuals who have dedicated their lives to volunteer service and building stronger communities.
In his address, President Biden remarked, “The American story is not about one of us or some of us, but all of us. I congratulate you on taking it upon yourselves to contribute to the public good, and I am proud to present you with the Presidential Lifetime Service Award in recognition of your invaluable service to this great nation.”
Kingsley Okonkwo joins a distinguished group of honorees, including D.K. Olukoya, who was recognized earlier this year, and Steve Polgar, the youngest recipient of the award in 2016.
This prestigious recognition comes just days after Kingsley and Mildred were celebrated by the City of Houston for their significant contributions to strengthening family bonds. Houston Councilmember Willie R. Davis, who presented the award, praised the couple for their “visionary approach” to transforming relationships, not only in Houston but globally. “Their dedication serves as a beacon of hope for families worldwide,” Davis stated. “We are grateful for their guidance in a world that so desperately needs it.”
The couple’s efforts over the past year have been remarkable, with their tour spanning over 30 cities across Africa, North America, Canada, the UK, and Australia. They have offered practical tools and insights to mend fractured relationships and reinforce family values, touching the lives of thousands. As certified relationship coaches, Kingsley and Mildred have earned a reputation for their hands-on approach, using every opportunity to restore harmony in families.
For Nigerians, this recognition extends beyond individual achievement, symbolizing the profound global impact of the country’s diaspora. As the Okonkwos continue their mission to inspire and uplift families around the world, many are eager to witness the further accomplishments of this dynamic duo.
