On August 10th, the Flavours of Nigeria food festival took place in Brampton, Canada, celebrating Nigeria’s vibrant culinary traditions.
Hosted by IIASDG Africa and Glogold Consulting Ltd Canada, the event was part of the Crossroads of Culture Festival and featured an array of Nigerian dishes, including Amala with Ewedu, Jollof rice, and pepper soup.
Guests were treated to lively performances by cultural dancers and musicians, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The event was graced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who interacted with food vendors to learn more about Nigerian cuisine.
He was welcomed by Chuks Anyaduba and Akin Oduntan, alongside notable figures such as Members of Parliament Arielle Kayabaga and Shafqat Ali, Minister of Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities Kamal Khera, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Nollywood actors Uzee Usman and Titi Kuti, celebrity journalist Adeniyi Ifetayo, and Ambassador Martins Acha.
Additionally, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, received an Award for Excellence in Cultural Preservation, presented by Chuks Anyaduba and accepted on his behalf by Adeniyi Ifetayo.
The festival, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, UNESCO, and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, was sponsored by the City of Brampton, Brampton Economic Development, Skyewise Group, Sketchfinix, and Uchenna Mbunabo TV.
