BREAKING: Tension In Nigeria as angry protesters storm ex-President’s residence, Emir’s palace

Hordes of protesters, on Thursday gathered at the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, as part of the #EndBadGovernance movement ongoing in Nigeria.

Allnaijadiaspora.com reports that the country has been embroiled in turmoil following the unmitigated hardship bedeviling the residents.

However, protest, which escalated into violence in various areas, resulted in several deaths and prompted curfews in at least three states.

Frustrated with the country’s economic difficulties, the protesters attempted to breach Buhari’s residence, setting up bonfires and chanting “Bama yi! Bama yi! Bama yi!”—a Hausa phrase meaning “we don’t want.”

A witness reported that an unidentified person from Buhari’s residence came out to address the crowd, suggesting they select a representative to present their grievances. This representative would then be recorded and the video shown to the former president.

Following this intervention, the protesters moved towards the palace of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk. During the confrontation, security forces shot one protester in the leg, but the demonstration persisted.

An anonymous local resident, who was organizing a student event at the time, indicated that the protesters also targeted the residences of Buhari, the Emir, and Magajin Garin Daura.
