NAPTIP secures jail term for couple who trafficked woman to Dubai

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully secured a prison sentence for a couple in Benin convicted of human trafficking.

Ganiu Aganran, Coordinator of NAPTIP’s Benin Zonal Command, confirmed the verdict in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

Adesuwa Otabor and Otabor Idahosa were each sentenced to five years in prison for their involvement in human trafficking. They were found guilty by the High Court, Criminal Division 2, Benin City, for sending a victim to Dubai for prostitution.

The court ruled that their actions violated Section 27 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
