An official from the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Yaú Inuwa, has garnered praise for his honesty after returning two high-value mobile phones worth N4 million to their owner, Muhajiadina Kano, in Jeddah.
Yunusa Abdullahi, the agency’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Kaduna.
He commended Mr. Inuwa for his exemplary conduct in returning the phones to Mr. Kano during their return flight to Nigeria from King Abdul Azeez International Airport in Jeddah.
Mr. Kano expressed gratitude to Mr. Inuwa, acknowledging that he had inadvertently left the phones behind while being screened at the airport. The phones, an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 15 Pro Max, contained important documents and were highly valuable to Mr. Kano.
Recalling the incident, Mr. Kano explained that airport security restrictions prevented them from retrieving the phones once they were screened. Fortunately, Mr. Inuwa, the Pilgrims Registration Officer for Giwa Local Government of Kaduna State and Jeddah Coordinator, located the phones where Mr. Kano had been seated earlier.
Inuwa, in line with his duties as a Hajj official, also returned seven bags belonging to other passengers.
He emphasized the importance of pilgrims safeguarding their belongings, particularly passports, during travel.
Mr. Kano expressed relief and gratitude upon receiving his phones back, praying for divine blessings for Mr. Inuwa for his honest act.
