The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to prioritize the safety of Nigerians living abroad and to ensure justice for those who have faced injustice and mistreatment by foreign nationals.
During today’s session, Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Tochukwu Orere, brought attention to recent reports of violence against Nigerian citizens in South Africa, notably the alleged murder of Mr. Ebuka Nwoko, 43, while in the custody of South African security officials in Northern Cape.
Hon. Orere expressed deep concern and condemnation over these reported incidents, emphasizing the importance of upholding human rights and the rule of law.
In response, the House has tasked the House Committee on Diaspora with investigating, Nwoko’s murder and other cases of violence against Nigerians living abroad. A report is expected within four weeks to guide further legislative action.
