Safety regulators have prompted a recall of over 3,800 Tesla Cybertrucks due to a potential issue with the accelerator pedal.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) contacted Tesla after a video surfaced on social media platforms, including one owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, showing how a loose rubber cover on the pedal could jam it in place. The video has garnered millions of views.
Reports indicated Tesla may have paused sales and deliveries of the Cybertruck following contact from the NHTSA. The agency confirmed a total of 3,878 vehicles are affected by the recall.
Tesla, which began deliveries of the electric pickup truck late last year after production delays, will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly free of charge. According to the NHTSA, owners will be notified by mail in June.
