Liverpool are reportedly preparing a €60 million offer to secure the services of Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Atalanta as the club looks to strengthen its attack ahead of the summer transfer window.
Italian publication Quotidiano Sportivo reports that the Reds are considering offloading Darwin Nunez and replacing him with Lookman as part of a broader revamp under incoming manager Arne Slot.
Despite clinching the Premier League title this season, Liverpool are pushing to make further improvements, particularly in the forward line and at right-back, following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s announcement that he will be leaving the club.
Lookman has seen a remarkable upturn in form since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig. The former Everton man has excelled in Serie A, combining clinical finishing with creativity in the final third.
This season alone, the 27-year-old Super Eagles star has notched 20 goals and registered seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, attracting attention from top European clubs.
Comfortable on both wings as well as in a central role, Lookman’s tactical flexibility is believed to be a key factor in Liverpool’s interest, offering Arne Slot valuable options going forward.
Liverpool had expressed interest in the winger during the January transfer window, but Atalanta were unwilling to sanction a move mid-season. However, the Italian side have now reportedly set a €60 million asking price for the Nigerian forward in anticipation of renewed summer interest.
There are also reports that Liverpool could explore a swap deal involving Federico Chiesa to help offset the cost of the transfer and facilitate Lookman’s move to Anfield.
