18-year-old Nigerian-American, Unuigbe gains admission into six Ivy League Schools

Osariemen Unuigbe, an 18-year-old Nigerian-American student of Edo State heritage, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by gaining acceptance into six Ivy League universities in the United States, including the renowned Harvard and Yale.

Currently in her final year at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey, Osariemen has drawn admiration for her outstanding academic record and unwavering dedication to excellence.

Her hard work and accomplishments have positioned her as a rising star among her peers.

Her proud parents, Dr. Augustine and Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Unuigbe, described their daughter’s success as nothing short of miraculous, expressing gratitude and attributing her achievements to divine grace.

Osariemen’s academic journey has been marked by leadership roles and prestigious accolades. She was selected for the Governor’s School of New Jersey, a highly selective program for top-performing students, and has earned multiple academic honors throughout her high school career.

Recently, she was also recognized as a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.—a testament to her exceptional character and academic brilliance.

Her story adds to the growing narrative of Nigerian students excelling in U.S. higher education.

According to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, the number of Nigerian students enrolled in U.S. institutions climbed to 20,029 in the 2023/2024 academic year, reflecting a 13.5% increase compared to previous years.

Osariemen’s achievements not only highlight the potential of Nigerian youth abroad but also serve as an inspiration to students striving for excellence worldwide.
