In a bid to complement government’s effort in the provision of healthcare for Nigerians, 100 foreign-based Nigerian medical Doctors, under the auspices of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) are currently in Umuahia, the Abia State capital
The medical practitioners are in Abia to participate in a medical outreach that will run from April 5 to Sunday April 14.
The mission comprised a multidisciplinary team of medical and non-medical personnel from the United States and some volunteers from Nigeria.
While in the state , they will offer free medical/surgical/dental services to indigent Nigerians.
The programme is part of the Annual ANPA week which usually includes Advocacy in healthcare, medical education, and medical mission.
Each year, ANPA embarks on a hosted mission trip to different underserved areas in Nigeria moving towards our vision of A Healthier Nigeria in a Healthier World. The 2023 edition was held in Sango Ota, Ogun State.
ANPA represents the professional interests of 4,000 plus physicians, dentists and allied health professionals of Nigerian birth, ethnicity or empathy in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean providing a platform for medical and scientific dialogue, on issues of health within North America, the Caribbean, and Africa, pertinent to persons of descent from the Nigerian Diaspora.
