Authorities have rescued at least 10 Nigerian teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, who were trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), confirmed the rescue in a video posted on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
The operation was carried out by the Nigerian community in Ghana, known as NIDO, which is affiliated with NiDCOM.
Three of the victims are siblings. One of the girls recounted their ordeal, saying, “They give us out to men, and they don’t give us money; they collect everything.”
